Wiki Pages - a group of web pages that allows people to add content. The most common use of wiki pages is through wikipedia.com - the free encyclopedia. One can use it to show off pupils' work, to upload resources for pupils.( For the first time this year I used it with a class to add pages at home.)
RSS Feeds - a format for sending out news and the content of news-like sites. Rather than checking dozens of web pages and sites throughout the day, RSS allows you to look on one location and see all of the newest contenet from your feeds.
Let students choose and read an article that interests them, then record summary using Vocaroo. Links to their Vocaroo can be put on Wallwisher

It doesn’t support all the fancy transitions and sound that you can put into a PowerPoint which is a good thaing as the class have to concentrate on content. If you can get students to write blogs and want to encourage them to read and comment on each others- it might be worth giving them some advice on what topics they should choose to prompt others to comment. Easy things for children to write about on a blog - recent news stories; good and bad things about the town where they live; study tips; reviews of restaurants,films and books;

Kerpoff has a wonderful on-line spelling application called Spell a Picture that works well on the SMARTBoard and is very engaging for young children and Special Education students. Students choose a background from a selection of three and a keyboard will appear at the bottom of the screen. As the students type a letter pictures will pop into the screen. They then complete spelling the word based on the pictures that appear. When they have completed spelling the word you select the picture to appear in their scene. The pictures can be moved and when scrolled over with your mouse the word appears again. Each scene can be then printed.
3D Pop-Up Books
http://alpha.zooburst.com/ is a digital storytelling tool that allows you to create your own 3D pop-up books. This application is completely web based and requires the Adobe Flash plug-in. You can easily upload your own images and customize them and narrations can be added to images. In addition you are able to embed your
ZooBurst in your blog or wiki,etc
You get 1GB of free storage and you can upload directly to your web album from the picasa software. Then just send your friends the link by email and they can view the photos as a slideshow as well as being able to download and print etc. If you need more space then you can buy it but 1 GB will store about 500 photos at high resolution and about 4000 if you go for standard resolution. http://picasaweb.google.com

Moodle allows you to create discussions, wikis, surveys, quizes, set and grade assignments and to share documents, link to websites and documents in the cloud (eg google docs) (and much more). The really fabulous thing is that it all happens behind a password and you can moinitor activity (this we call a walled garden).
